Dogs Rule Resort Frequently Asked Questions

What does Dogs Rule Resort do to handle pets with separation anxiety?
We realize that some dogs would rather be with people than other dogs. Each client fills out a questionnaire detailing any special needs their pet may have, including separation anxiety. Our staff members supervise the dogs all day long, so your pet will never be lonely. We do our best to accommodate each dog’s individual needs – at no extra charge!
Do Dogs Rule Resort’s groomers groom one dog at a time or are they a high volume grooming facility?
Our experienced groomers groom a dog from start to finish. On average, we groom about 10 dogs a day so that the groomer can spend quality time on a dog. Our groomers do not force the dog to be groomed and will take breaks if they notice the dog is getting too stressed out. Dogs are allowed to play in daycare until midday and are groomed later so they are not stuck in a cage all day.
Who works at Dogs Rule Resort? What are their credentials?
Each potential employee goes through a very thorough screening and interview process. Our managers have experience working as veterinary technicians and are Pet CPR and First Aid certified. All employees are extreme dog lovers. We are a close knit group of people who provide a “family” type atmosphere.
What does Dogs Rule Resort do for Pets with thunderstorm anxiety?
Although most of the rooms at Dogs Rule Resort have windows to let in the natural light, we do have several interior rooms without windows we use so the dogs can’t see the lightening. Our walls are extra insulated to provide a sound proof environment, so little or no thunder can be heard.
How does Dogs Rule Resort keep track of the pet’s eating, elimination and temperament during their stay?
Each dog is given a kennel card at check in so the staff may note any problems. Issues such as a loss of appetite, diarrhea, or anxiety are noted in our sophisticated kennel software so we know what to expect in the future and to notify the owners of any problems during the visit.
How often are the dogs cared for?
Our staff arrives at 6:30 AM each morning and leaves at 8 PM each night. During this time, the dogs are constantly cared for. Although we are closed on Saturday and Sunday evenings, and holidays, our staff still comes in to care for the dogs. Your dog will never go more than 12 hours without being let outside.
How does Dogs Rule Resort manage airborne viruses and bacteria like Kennel Cough? How does Dogs Rule Resort control pests such as fleas and ticks?
Each dog entering our facility must be current on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccines no matter what. During the summer, we require that all dogs be on a veterinarian prescribed flea prevention. We check each dog that enters the facility for fleas and ticks. We also have an exterminator spray the entire facility monthly for fleas, tricks and other pests.
How does Dogs Rule Resort keep the facility clean and germ free?
Dogs Rule Resort is disinfected thoroughly each morning. Each suite is vacuumed and mopped. We use a cleaning solution that is specially formulated for use in a kennel and is non-toxic to animals! Any messes that occur throughout the day are cleaned immediately. Since the dogs are able to go outdoors several times a day, you do not have to worry about your dog having an accident overnight.
What is the pet care worker to dog ratio?
At Dogs Rule Resort, we believe that only 15 dogs at a time can be taken care of safely by one person. At a minimum, there are three people caring for our pet guests at all times. There is always someone watching each play group of dogs to ensure that no fights break out. Our facility (Keller) can hold about 70 dogs. After adding our next phase of suites and additional outside play area, we will be able to hold 110 dogs. We do not believe in overcrowding our facility on busy weekends or holidays, so that we can show each dog the love and attention they would receive at home.
Is there a fire/security system at Dogs Rule Resort? How far away are the fire/police departments? Will my dogs be safe?
Dogs Rule Resort is equipped with a state-of-the-art security system that is linked to our Owners smart phones and homes, the police department and the fire department. The police and fire departments are just a few minutes away. We have staff that lives close to Dogs Rule Resort and can be here within a few minutes. Part of our personal requirements when making decisions about Dogs Rule Resort locations is the safety of the dogs; we are located in a safe and low crime area.
What kind of exercise do the dogs get while staying at Dogs Rule Resort? Does it cost extra?
All of our guests spend the entire day playing outside at no extra cost. If the weather is too hot, cold, or raining, we have three large, climate controlled indoor play areas for the dogs. The only times the dogs are in their suites are for small breaks, meal times and to sleep at night. We do not believe in keeping the dogs cooped up all day long.
Is there a webcam to view the pets at Dogs Rule Resort? Do the dogs get to listen to music or watch TV?
Each of the three daycare rooms and the outside play area has a live color webcam so you may view your pet at play. Each boarding room has its own color TV/DVD that is left on at all times to provide soothing images and relaxing music.
How long has Dogs Rule Resort been in business?
The first Dogs Rule Resort was established in 2004 in Carrollton, Texas. The second location of Dogs Rule Resort opened December 15, 2011.
